Occupied By Bodies
Digital representations of screen prints, 2020
This series is a study of the product image; Online, the first interaction a consumer has with fast-fashion goods is a digital image, where a model wears and demonstrates the product. These images exist in large volume and are highly disposable; once the product is sold, the image serves no purpose.
Occupied by Bodies reimagines these throwaway digital images, by taking them through the analogue process of screen-printing. Through this method, the aesthetic focus becomes the material and form of the products, obscuring the identifiable elements of the model and the brand. Tinted and repeated to create seductive images, the original image function is transformed, from selling the product online, to existing as a physical artwork.
